The Atlas Chair is a contemporary take on the traditional chair, utilising the same construction methods as makers have used for hundreds of years. The legs are made using a pole lathe and secured to the seat using a wedged tenon joint.
It replaces the traditional steam-bend timber back with a bent mild steel support, providing an easy to manufacture alternative and a contrasting colour to the timber frame.
The design was reworked at a later date to improve the structural strength of the chair while maintaining the overall aesthetic.
